My husband has loved Star Wars since his childhood – and definitely before it became “cool” again. That’s right, he’s a sci-fi hipster and proud of it. I enjoy science fiction myself, but I have always preferred Star Trek, which I perceive is for intellectuals, those who study the human experience, those who question everything and dare to ask “why?”
Star Wars, on the other hand, is a tired iteration of the same old love story: boy meets girl and they save the world. But droids! Droids are different, special – they imbue the story with humor, personality, and charm. Who wouldn’t love R2D2, with his mixture of loyalty and spunk?
These mittens pay tribute to my favorite astromech droid. Beep boop! They took two months to finish, but I enjoyed every stitch.
